The 2006 release of the Smith & Hook Cabernet
Sauvignon unveils with it a brand new package,
one which pays homage to the heritage of “Old
Monterey” and the unique history of the ‘ranchesturned-
vineyards’ which are home to the grapes
that produce the Smith & Hook wine.
Nicolaus (“Nicky”) Hahn, and his wife Gaby,
discovered their love for California wines in the
mid 70s. They began a search to find the perfect
place to make wines of their own. It took two
years for the Hahns to find the two neighboring
Monterey County horse and cattle ranches that
had been converted to vineyard property.

Today Smith & Hook continues its great Cabernet Sauvignon legacy producing that single varietal. The upscale new package reflects the heritage of the Hahn Winery and Smith & Hook Wines with its ‘ranch-brand’ emblazoned directly onto the bottles. Hand-crafted by winemaker Paul Clifton, the wine echoes the pioneering spirit of the Hahn Family and the rich tradition of Monterey winegrowing. |
